RECESSIONARY WOES BRING BUSINESS BREAKUPS TO THE FOREFRONT

A large percentage of marriage breakups are due to money challenges. The same goes for business partnerships. The current recession has come fast and furious and sales in many sectors have just dried up. This leaves everyone on edge without their cushions of comfort.

In many ways, a business partnership is the same as a marriage. Both partners involved in the partnership must compromise and trust one another in order to succeed. If that trust is broken or incompatibilities arise, then dissolution of that partnership is required.

Over the past few weeks, I have heard of several business breakups that have gone over to the “ugly” side of life.

So – how do you breakup with a civil disposition and save your face?

1) The sooner you tell the truth to your partner about your feeling – the better. A business partnership is only successful when both parties doing their best for the sake of the business. If one of those partners is not doing their best, then that partner should quit and call it a day - before profits are lost.

2) Making a concise and practical breakup plan is the best way to dissolve a partnership. A plan gives both partners a working goal that involves them both. An irrefutable practical plan will help both partners to “move on”.

3) Make the breakup plan simple, compassionate and fair. The slower the dissolution of a partnership the more expensive it becomes. The simpler the plan and the more committed a party is to dissolving a business, the cheaper it is for all.

4) Look at the big picture and don’t sweat the small stuff. Remember that each partner was an “individual” before they entered the partnership, hence if your business together has no future, both parties can return to what they were doing before knowing that you don’t need another person to create your own future.

THE PROPERTY-PRENEURS
An undeniable, universal truth is that we all need someplace to live. No matter at what age, we all seek to find a place to hang our hats, raise a family, have a holiday, or to retire. And, as long as this irrefutable truth exists, there will be “property-entrepreneurs” who will design your home, your community and your lifestyle, if given the chance.

THE GREEN-ENTREPRENEURS

The industrial revolution has peaked and now it is up to the “green-preneurs” to bring business back on track with sourcing, developing and marketing products and services that “help” Mother Nature instead of controlling her.
